Consultancy

Practical advice, delivered by people who build.

The name comes from colloquy: a serious conversation. We start by listening, then turn what we learn into architecture, code and controls that work.

Security & risk advisory

Threat modelling, architecture reviews, security roadmaps and policy that people can actually follow.

Data protection engineering

Encryption, key management, tokenisation, access control and audit trails designed into your data flows.

Cloud & infrastructure

Secure landing zones, migrations, hybrid estates and infrastructure as code with sensible guardrails.

Secure software delivery

Secure SDLC, code review, DevSecOps pipelines and delivery through our engineering arm, dev-test.uk.

Resilience & response

Backup and recovery design, incident playbooks and tabletop exercises so you are ready before you need to be.

Deleted data retrieval

Recovering deleted, lost or damaged data from drives, servers, databases, cloud and backups, with preserved evidence and secure handling of what comes back.

Data security specialism

Security is where we started, not an add-on.

Whether it is customer records, payment data or intellectual property, we treat protection as a design requirement from the first workshop.

  • Privacy-by-design data models and retention rules
  • Zero-trust access patterns and least privilege
  • Secrets, keys and certificate lifecycle management
  • Secure integrations, APIs and third-party data sharing
  • Deleted data retrieval with forensic care, chain of custody and secure handling
  • Logging, monitoring and evidence for auditors
Just lost data? Do these three things first.
  1. Stop using the device or system. New data can overwrite what was deleted.
  2. Do not repair, reformat, reset or reinstall.
  3. Do not install recovery software on the affected drive, or save recovered files to it.

Is it still recoverable? A 30-second self-check

Answer four questions for a rough idea of the odds and what to do next. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Deleted data retrieval

How a recovery job runs.

Careful, in order, and honest about the chances. Nobody can promise that deleted data will come back, so we find out what is realistically possible before anything is touched.

Assess

We establish what was deleted, when, from which system, and what has happened since, then tell you what is realistically recoverable.

Preserve

We take a complete copy of the original and work only on the copy, so the source stays untouched and the work can be repeated.

Recover and verify

We look at backups, snapshots, logs and the storage itself, then check what comes back: files open, counts match, checksums agree.

Hand over securely

Recovered data is delivered encrypted to named people, with a plain-language note of what was and was not recovered, and how to avoid a repeat.

FAQ

Deleted data retrieval questions.

What is deleted data retrieval?

Getting back data that has been deleted, lost or damaged: files and folders, emails, database records, or whole drives and volumes. The outcome depends on how the data was stored and what has happened since, so the first actions matter. Our best practice guide sets out what to do and what to avoid.

What should I do straight after deleting something important?

Stop using the device or system, do not install recovery software on it or try repair tools, and write down what was deleted and when. Check the recycle bin, version history, backups and cloud recovery folders, because some keep deleted items for a limited time only.

Can all deleted data be recovered?

No, and nobody can promise it. Hard disks often keep deleted data until it is overwritten, but solid-state drives, encryption, physical damage and overwriting can make recovery partial or impossible. That is why we establish what is realistically possible before any work begins.

Is retrieving deleted data a UK GDPR issue?

It can be. Losing or destroying personal data may be a reportable personal data breach, and data deleted to meet an erasure request or retention rule should not simply be restored to live systems. This is general information, not legal advice.

Can you also help us avoid losing data again?

Yes. We review backups and test restores, versioning and soft delete, who is allowed to delete what, and alerts for mass deletions, and give you a prioritised list of fixes. Use the contact form below to tell us what you are working with.
